KultureKo: The beginnings

Nothing taste better after a catching some waves in La Union, Philippines than a nice cold horchata from El Union.   During a trip to La Union in January 2018, I met the founder of El Union, Kiddo, who had a conversation to me about culture while I was sipping on my third cup of horchata. I was expecting talks of how he wanted his culture to be like Google like most chats about culture often do. I was wrong.  Instead, Kiddo focused his conversation about culture on creating and being like an El Union culture.   It was in a sense a "my culture" concept, or in Tagalog it can be translated to Kulture Ko.

Trips to La Union became more frequent as I kept going back to El Union for Horchatas and experiencing the culture of the team.  Team members worked on their work schedules together, designated work duties amongst each other, greeted customers nicely,  partied together,  and surfed together during their lunch breaks.

I saw, firsthand, how the prioritization and development of one's own culture led to success and happy people.

As a result, this coffee shop in La Union inspired became an inspiration for the beginning of KultureKo.
